反循環(huán)鉆進(也作“雙壁鉆進”)是一種勘探鉆進方式,可以研究基巖的強度是否能夠支撐在其上面的建筑或人們可否在基巖下面挖出礦物。這種鉆進方式可以幫助人們快速獲取可靠的勘探結果,查明基巖背后隱藏的信息。這種鉆進方式同時采用沖擊和回轉方式。
反循環(huán)鉆進使用反循環(huán)沖擊器來作業(yè),配合由內外管組成的雙壁鉆桿,巖渣通過內管回收到地表。這種方式能采集到理想的巖石碎片,因為大型的空壓機能把推進的鉆頭前面的巖石提取。反循環(huán)鉆進用在不需要采集巖芯的情況下,用來持續(xù)采取地基樣本。鉆進中能連續(xù)不斷地收集樣本,這其中約12%巖渣可用作研究分析。
反循環(huán)鉆進比比起取芯鉆進來說相當?shù)貕K,它杜絕了取芯鉆進中水對取芯帶來的問題,也避免了花時間回拉鉆具總成和巖芯到地表,因為反循環(huán)鉆進的取樣過程即便是在疏松斷裂巖層下也是即時進行的。反循環(huán)鉆進作業(yè)比金剛石巖芯鉆鉆進成本低,加之所有鉆鑿過的巖石都被收集,因此成為質地勘探和調研作業(yè)的又一選擇。然而,反循環(huán)鉆進采回的僅僅是巖石碎片,所以能得到的地質信息較巖心帶來的少。

Reverse Circulation Drilling (also referred as dual-wall drilling, and RC Drilling for short) is a method used in investigation and exploration drilling to find out if the bedrock is strong enough to support construction or if people can extract materials from it. It helps to gain fast and reliable results about what is hidden down there in the bedrock. This method makes use of both percussion and rotation movements.
The RC Drilling is done with a RC down-the-hole hammer, uses dual-wall rods with inner and outer tubes, the drill cuttings are returned to surface inside the rods. It ideally produces dry rock chips, as large air compressors dry the rock out ahead of the advancing drill bit. RC Drilling is used to retrieve continuous samples from the ground where a solid core is not needed. Samples are taken continuously during drilling, with around 12% of the cuttings going for analysis.
RC Drilling is considerably faster than core drilling because it eliminates the problems that water can cause with coring and eliminates the time spent recovering core barrel samples to the surface as they are instant even through broken or fractured ground. RC Drilling is cheaper than diamond core drilling and has additional advantage that all the drilled rock is collected making it the most viable option when it comes to mineral exploration and site investigation. However, RC Drilling only produces fragments and chips of broken rock, so there is less geological information available than would be obtained from core.
